Local artisan bakery receives accolades in fine food awards

Perth bakery, Mette is Baking, recently received a champion trophy for our Nordic gluten-free artisan crackers in this year’s Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards, the highest award in the Baked Products - Savoury Category. Plus, we also received two gold medals for our Nordic traditional crackers and our gluten-free crackers.

Mette, Owner and Founder of Mette is Baking, says she is ecstatic that judges from across Australia have recognised her crackers as some of the best in the nation.

“It is a true honour to be a recipient of these prestigious awards, which would not be possible without our wonderful and dedicated team of bakers who steadily hand mix, roll and bake each batch.

“Our crackers are handcrafted in small batches and made to order. We bake daily to ensure a delicious, fresh and crisp cracker like no other - just like the Nordic crackers I enjoyed as a child,” says Mette.

Mette is Baking’s gluten free Nordic crackers received the gold medal in the Gluten Free Baked Savoury Products category. While the traditional crisp bread received a silver medal in the Crackers/Crisp bread and Savoury Biscuits category.

“I believe our crackers are so moreish, because it really boils down to the ingredients used as well as a tried-and-true recipe. A recipe I created, intertwined in my family’s heritage and steeped in Nordic tradition,” says Mette.

“Our crackers are pure, uncomplicated and natural and are full of a wholesome mix of super seeds, making them rich in nutrients, essential vitamins and minerals and are packed full of dietary fibre. We deliberately seek the finest quality, locally sourced ingredients and ensure our crackers are free from preservatives, additives and colours.”

From humble beginnings, Mette is Baking is now recognised throughout Australia. Our artisan bakery has received multiple awards since 2018. In fact, Mette is Baking has received a total of 25 awards in six years for our two varieties of artisan baked crackers.

“Being involved in awards such as The Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards sets a real benchmark for food producers in Australia, it helps us to ensure we are providing a high-quality product, that not only tastes amazing, but is also nutritious,” says Mette.
